- Research has found that alcohol and drugs are significant factors in the commission of many crimes and are involved in the following: 78% of violent crimes, 83% of property crimes, 77% weapon offenses and 77% of probation or parole violations.
- Alcohol increases estrogen levels in men. Chronic alcoholism has been associated with loss of body hair and muscle mass, development of swollen breasts and shrunken testicles, and impotence.
- Not all alcohol related deaths at college universities are related to alcohol overdose; many deaths are due to falls and other accidents that are reported to be associated with high consumption.
- Alcohol use among adolescents can be linked with considering, planning, attempting, and completing suicide.
